BOXX Technologies announced that its HD [pro] RT workstations, coupled with Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects and CineForms Prospect HD running on Microsoft Windows XP, fueled the post-production pipeline and DI workflow for the upcoming DUST TO GLORY documentary about the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 race.
Director Dana Brown (STEP INTO LIQUID) and a team of 80 people with 55 cameras, four helicopters and four passenger-buggy camera cars chronicled the adventures of thousands of participants, including generations of families and racing icons such as Robby Gordon, Mario Andretti, Jimmy Vasser and Motorcycle Supercross Legend Mike "Mouse" McCoy.
The movie was shot in a variety of formats from DV to 35mm film, creating a post-production challenge. However, the powerful combination of BOXX workstations running Windows XP with Adobe and CineForm software proved that large-scale post-production can easily be achieved on a desktop solution.
With DUST TO GLORY, our workflow was everything and managing the workflow with the countless hours of assets was essential, said Jacob Rosenberg, online editor and supervisor for DUST TO GLORY. The BOXX HD [pro] RT workstations gave us a tremendous amount of storage space, fast disk speed to work with and a self-enclosed workstation that was basically portable if we needed it to be. The fact that this entire show was edited, color corrected, titled and effected using a stand alone desktop workstation with no external hardware is pretty amazing.
The postproduction pipeline created for this film truly redefines the post-production process for independent filmmakers, added Todd Bryant, CTO of BOXX Technologies. The BOXX HD [pro] RT workstations coupled with the Adobe and CineForm software offer a compelling and extremely powerful price performance model for the post-production and digital intermediary processes.
The HD [pro] RT, optimized for Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects and CineForm Prospect HD, is currently available and shipping. Pricing begins at $14,995.
DUST TO GLORY is scheduled for release in April. For more information, visit www.d2gfilm.com.
