A celebration of independent game development in a variety of media and genres, Boston Festival of Indie Games is for all ages, free and open to the public. Festival attendees play video games, tabletop games and live action roleplaying (LARP) games in a casual, inclusive environment, plus attend film screenings and keynote talks.

Attendees can also become game developers themselves by participating in digital game jams, creating their own board and card games, and attending workshops and lectures about the process of making games. More fest details, including 2013 programming, will be announced in May.

“We’ve got some new, big things planned for this year’s festival, including outdoor games, tournaments and live music, and are excited to now open the floodgates, allowing attendees to start registering for what we know will be a stellar event,” says Dan Silvers, festival co-producer.

Fiona Cherbak, festival co-producer adds, “We are expecting more than double our attendance from last year, so potentially thousands of attendees will be at the festival. We encourage those interested in attending the fest to register as early as possible to make sure you have a spot before our space at MIT hits capacity. All ages are welcome!”

For independent game developers interested in showcasing their games at the festival, developer submissions are currently open until Thursday, June 20. More information about game submissions can be found on
