If you asked Santa for loads of commercial-free FLINTSTONES, your wish has been granted as Cartoon Network's Boomerang channel offers a 240 hours Bedrocks first family, Dec. 15-21, 2003, including such holiday classic specials as A FLINTSTONE CHRISTMAS (1977), A FLINTSTONE CHRISTMAS CAROL (1994) and CHRISTMAS FLINTSTONE (1964). Covering almost 35 years of Hanna-Barbera motion picture and television production, BOOMEROCK will showcase television's largest-ever tribute to the cave-dwelling comedy, pre-empt Boomerang's entire schedule.
"Our vast cartoon library and the commercial-free on-air environment on Boomerang make for the perfect combination to produce rare, comprehensive programming tributes such as BOOMEROCK," said Mark Norman, svp/gm of Boomerang. Produced by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, THE FLINTSTONES premiered on ABC Friday, Sept. 30, 1960, as the first primetime animated series made especially for television. Creating 166 half-hour episodes, the program aired Friday nights on ABC until Sept. 2, 1966.
Dec. 20, will be devoted entirely to classic episodes of THE FLINTSTONES, and Sunday, Dec. 21, will pay tribute to FLINTSTONES movies.
