Michael Douglas' Further Films is developing Shirley Jackson’s 1962 novel, WE HAVE ALWAYS LIVED IN THE CASTLE.

CASTLE tells the tale of a reclusive, potentially murderous family and was adapted for Broadway in the 1960s.

The HollywoodReporter notes Further will produce with Literal Media, the firm that reps Jackson's work. Laurence Hyman, Jackson's son and literary executor, also will have a role as producer.

Stephen King has cited Jackson as a prime influence on his work. Shirley Jackson, who died in 1965, is best known for THE LOTTERY.
