Second series will see 52 new 11-minute episodes set for delivery in 2016, with 60-minute special set to follow in 2017; new ‘Bob the Builder’ shorts set to launch on YouTube in August 2015.

Mattel subsidiary HIT Entertainment has greenlit a second season and 60-minute special for its all-new CG-animated Bob the Builder series.

The second series will see 52 new 11-minute episodes set for delivery in 2016 and the 60-minute special set to follow in 2017. These latest commissions will continue to bring construction to life for millions of children across the globe.

Bob the Builder is also set to embark on exciting new digital adventures with the launch of 43 two-minute short-form videos. By telling stories through positivity, teamwork and learning, young viewers will be able to enjoy even more fun and discovery with Bob and the gang, building out their world within an engaging and immersive construction experience whilst continuing the show’s long-tradition of exciting pre-schoolers in a unique, fun and dynamic way. New Bob the Builder shorts are set to launch on YouTube in August 2015.

“We are excited about the greenlight of a second series of Bob the Builder and particularly thrilled about bringing additional content to the many platforms on which children and families are currently engaging with entertainment,” said Christopher Keenan, VP Global Content & Executive Producer at HIT Entertainment. “We had a tremendous reception when we announced commencement of the first series and expect that the news of this additional content will evoke an equally enthusiastic response from our global distribution partners, parents and kids alike.”

As with the first series, episodes for the second series, a 60-minute special, and shorts will be produced at HIT’s U.K. headquarters with animation services provided by Canadian-based digital animation company, Mainframe.

The voice cast including Lee Ingleby who voices Bob (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban & Inspector George Gently), Joanne Froggatt (Downton Abbey) the voice of Wendy and Blake Harrison (The Inbetweeners) who voices Scoop, will feature.

The all-new first series will hit screens later this year on Channel’s 5’s Milkshake! (UK), PBS KIDS (US) and from early 2016 on Super RTL (GER) and Televisa (MEX).

From the top of his yellow hard hat to the toes of his boots, Bob is ready to go! No project is too big, no problem too hard to solve. Can he fix it? Yes he can!
