Benderspink has hired Steven C. Miller to helm a screen adaptation of Brian Haberlin's Image Comic AREA 52, reports VARIETY. Adapted by Jack Phillips, the story is set at an Antarctic military outpost that takes in alien specimens after Area 51 is done with them. After an attack releases an alien threat, an Army nurse must try to save the day.
Chris Bender and JC Spink are the producers along with Quattro head Jim Strader. Haberlin is set to exec produce.
Miller made his directing debut on the zombie flick AUTOMATON TRANSFUSION, which was picked up by Dimension. Additionally, he is writing and directing a series of humorous web shorts for 60 Frames called CHINESE GUYS.
