Bee Movie Gets A DVD Buzz

BEE MOVIE was the toast of the DVD world last week, when the Paramount/DreamWorks comedy topped the national DVD sales chart in its first week in release, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

That makes it the biggest comedy to be released on DVD so far this year, as well as the biggest family movie.

BEE MOVIE generated a combined total of about $50 million in consumer spending in its first week. That's 40 percent of its theatrical gross of $126.6 million.

NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN (Miramax) finished a strong second in the week's (ending March 16) sales on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart. The drama topped the home rental with $10.2 million, leading BEE MOVIE.

As Paramount only releases standard DVDs, NO COUNTRY's Blu-ray disc was the top seller of the week.
