The BBC, BskyB, Cartoon Network Europe and Discovery Networks Europe were the top winners during a special ceremony held at the Cavalieri Hilton Hotel in Rome on March 23, 2004 for the 2004 PROMAX&BDA Europe Awards.
Overall, BBC Broadcast picked up six Gold and four Silver PROMAX&BDA statuettes for a total of 10 awards. BskyB also picked up seven awards, three Gold and four Silver. Cartoon Network Europe took home five awards, three Gold and two silver; and Discovery Networks Europe took home three Gold awards.
In one of the more prestigious categories, Best On-Air Branding, Cartoon Network Europe in Spain won the Gold Medallion (CASILLAS REVOLUTION 4), while KULTURA TV Channel in Russia and Spain's Ostra Delta shared the Silver for KULTURA TV Channel Branding and Eureka! campaigns, respectively.
In other highly competitive categories, SOGECABLE in Spain won the Gold for Best Editing and Disney Channel Spain won the Gold for Best Children's Promo.
PROMAX and BDA are the world's foremost organizations for professionals working on involved in the promotion, marketing and design of all electronic media. They represent more than 4,200 member companies and individuals in more than 60 countries. The PROMAX Awards are presented to companies and individuals whose work is judged by a panel of promotion and marketing professionals based upon overall creativity, production quality and results in achieving marketing objectives.
Carmen Alzner, svp/md of PROMAX&BDA Europe, cited the organization's collaboration with i2i Technology on a new online judging initiative. "This year, some 150 design and promotion experts were able to participate in the judging process, ensuring that each submission and every finalist was viewed and critiqued by a significant jury of industry peers," Alzner said. "Each of those judges joins me in congratulating the 2004 PROMAX&BDA Award winners for reaching new heights in effective creative expression and design."
