BAFTA Film Nods Announced

The Orange British Academy Film Awards nominees were announced on Jan. 17, 2005 with Martin Scorseses THE AVIATOR leading the pack with 14 nods. Three visual effects filled dramas topped the list for Best Film, including THE AVIATOR, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and FINDING NEVERLAND. Those pics will compete with THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES and VERA DRAKE.

The Best Achievement In Special Visual Effects nominations went to THE AVIATOR, THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN, HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS and SPIDER-MAN 2.

As for the Short Animation nods, the films were BIRTHDAY BOY, CITY PARADISE, HEAVY POCKETS, HIS PASSIONATE BRIDE and LITTLE THINGS.

Competing for the Alexander Korda Award For The Outstanding British Film Of The Year is HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN and SHAUN OF THE DEAD, while A VERY LONG ENGAGEMENT will tussle for Best Film Not In The English Language.
