BAFTA Announces Children's Film and Television Award Noms

The nominations for the 2003 British Academy Children's Film and Television Awards in association with the LEGO Company have been announced. The winners will be announced on November 30, 2003.

The Best Animation nominees include ALBIE from Cosgrove Hall Films, Granada International and CiTV; BOB THE BUILDER SPECIAL - A CHRISTMAS TO REMEMBER from HOT Animation for HIT Entertainment and BBC; BOUNTY HAMSTER from Silver Fox Films, Peafur Productions and CiTV; and PONGWIFFY from Telemagination and CiTV.

Two fantasy films and two ecco-conscience flicks took home nominations in the Feature Film category. The films include HARRY POTTER & THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS, LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS, WHALE RIDER and THE WILD THORNBERRYS.

Garnering nods in the Interactive category include BYKER GROVE WEBSITE from BBC Scotland Interactive; FIMBLES WEBSITE from CBBC Online and Novel Entertainment; SMARTSTUFF WEBSITE from Less Rain and C4; and STAR TICKET ACTIVE (INTERACTIVE TV) from Disney Channel U.K.

Pre-School Animation nominations went to BOO! from Tell-Tale Productions and BBC2; HILLTOP HOSPITAL from Siriol Productions and CiTV; TINY PLANETS from Pepper's Ghost Productions and CiTV; and YOKO! JAKAMOKO! TOTO! from Collingwood O'Hare Entertainment, HIT Entertainment and CiTV.

YOKO! JAKAMOKO! TOTO! also received a writing nomination for Tony Collingwood. In the International category ARTHUR from WGBH Educational Foundation, CINAR Prods Inc. and BBC2 was awarded a nod.

Along with LEGO, BAFTA will allow kids to vote for their favorite film. The top 10 list includes: HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS, HULK, JUNGLE BOOK 2, LILO AND STITCH, LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS, MEN IN BLACK II, SANTA CLAUSE 2, TREASURE PLANET, THE WILD THORNBERRYS and X-MEN 2.
