Society Of Animation Studies Call For Papers

The 13th Society of Animation Studies (SAS) conference will take
place in Montreal, Canada. This year, the theme of the conference is
Animation, Economics and Politics. Abstracts for papers on this or
other subjects may be submitted digitally to sas@niaf.nl by August
15, 2001. Papers should be no longer than 500 words. The paper
selection committee includes: Peter Rist, Concordia University,
Montreal, Canada; Mark Langer, Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada;
and Michael Frierson, University of North Carolina, USA. The
conference is timed to coincide with the Student Animation Film
Festival (SAFO) scheduled October 18-21, 2001 in Ottawa, Canada. On
October 18, 2001, SAFO will present a seminar on animation study
programs. All SAS members are invited to participate. SAS is also is
seeking nominations from SAS members for the Norman McLaren-Evelyn
Lambert Award for the "Best Scholarly Book on Animation." Books
should have been published in 1999 or 2000 and can be in any
language. The deadline for submissions is June 15, 2001. For more
