Owing to a flood of entries and requests for an extension to the entry deadline, organizers of the 1999 Ottawa International Student Animation Festival (SAFO) have extended the July 1st deadline to July 15, 1999. With approximately 600 entries received to date, SAFO will easily break its 1997 entry record of 645. The 1999 Competition includes categories for: high school/secondary level film; undergraduate film; graduate film; first film (professional or otherwise); and films by children (under 12). In addition, SAFO features a school competition which will see six animation schools compete for the Best Artistic Achievement in Animation Education award.
