The latest Acrobat edition of Animation World Magazine is now available for download online. This issue covers pitching and development. Karen Raugust looks at how animators are distributing their properties through a growing menu of alternative venues. Raugust also looks at how animators are increasingly turning to new venues such as print publishing and mobile phones to debut properties ultimately destined for film and television. Bringing a new series to air for preschool children is never child’s play, Janet Hetherington chats with Cathy Chilco about how WILBUR, a show featuring a little calf who loves books, “moooved” up the pitching post to be a top pick of the CBC and Discovery Kids. Jan Nagel talks to people taking pitches about what pitchers need to do to prepare for their pitch. Joe Strike looks into the anatomy of a development exec — who are they and how did they get there?

Moreover, Greg Singer sits down with Drew Carey to discuss his experience of creating DREW CAREY’S GREEN SCREEN SHOW. In tributes, AWN collects the thoughts of colleagues and the community regarding the passing of Derek Lamb and Wendy Jackson Hall.

In columns, Dr. Toon dives into the deep end of the animation pool to see what “adult” really means throughout toon history. In the last Animation Pimp column, Chris Robinson looks to the stars to see what animation means to him. In the latest “Mind Your Business,” Mark Simon helps bring opposites together by translating the difficult language of “client.” The Career Coach talks about how one can get a jumpstart on the new year by reviewing your accomplishments of the past year.

In reviews, Sharon Katz traveled to Espinho, Portugal, for the 2005 Cinanima and reports back with a bit of background on the international animation event and what it had in store for fans this year. Christopher Harz attended the second Serious Games Summit and found an odd mix of enthusiastic game designers, uninformed Army personnel and game producers trying to bring everyone together. And as always, Taylor Jessen is back with five short films reviews in “Fresh from the Festivals.”
