AWN is excited to announce that it has launched the AWN Animator Affiliate Program, an extensive initiative dedicated to providing independent animators worldwide with high profile exposure to the professional creative community through AWNs official Web site. The program officially kicked off this Tuesday at the Annecy International Animation Festival, where AWN co-hosted a cocktail party given by the festival in honor of the directors in official selection. In celebration, all animators with a film in competition at Annecy are eligible to participate, however, the program is open to selected animators worldwide. AWN has put together a unique selection of high profile promotional feature-sets that will be made available to participating animator affiliates at no charge. Official affiliates will receive: free hosting of their Web site or home page on AWN, including complete access to build and maintain the site, a free e-mail account and hit reporting; publication of a gallery of their work in AWNs new Art and Animation Showcase, including links to any distributors or product resellers; a free subscription to AWNs Animation Flash weekly e-mail newsletter; publication of news regarding new work credits, exhibitions, hirings, etc., in special affiliate news and events sections; plus, a special animator promotional site link package. In addition, Annecy participants will receive a complimentary six month portfolio and demo reel hosting on Creative Planets new service, Planetpoint (www.planetpoint.com), the online resource for creative buyers and AWNs sister site featuring a comprehensive collection of portfolios and online reels of leading industry talent.
There are many talented animators around the globe that unfortunately dont get the proper attention from within our community and the numerous important sectors closely related to our business. The AWN Animator Affiliate Program is designed to promote smaller independents that create strong work. By extending AWNs affiliation with the wealth of worldwide animation talent, we further expand the network and thus provide valuable opportunities for our affiliate animators to promote their creations and obtain new business contacts. AWN is currently affiliated with a number of legendary animators in the international circuit, including Nag Ansorge, Frédéric Back, Walerian Borowczyk, Richard Condie, Sally Cruickshank, Raimund Krumme, Caroline Leaf, Phil Mulloy, Priit Pärn, Bill Plympton, Georges Schwizgebel and Raoul Servais. Longtime affiliate Bill Plympton commented, "I highly recommend AWN to anybody interested in animation. It is the best resource for everything concerning animation. If people want to find me and know about my work, I just tell them to go to AWN."
We are also delighted to announce that our first participants are Wendy Tilby and Amanda Forbes, directors of the amazing "When The Day Breaks," which won Annecy 1999s Grand Prix and Cannes Palm DOr for Short Film. Look for their new site later this summer along with many others!
