AwesomenessTV Launches Feature Film Division

DreamWorks Animation’s AwesomenessTV appoints Chapter One Films founder Matt Kaplan to head newly launched feature film division, Awesomeness Films.

DreamWorks Animation’s AwesomenessTV is launching a feature film division, according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter. The new division, to be called Awesomeness Films, will be headed up by Chapter One Films founder Matt Kaplan.

As president of Awesomeness Films, Kaplan will work closely with AwesomenessTV head Brian Robbins to release between 12 and 15 films for theatrical and digital distribution. Awesomeness Films is reportedly already in production on several projects and will look to produce and acquire additional young adult projects that combine traditional and digital talent.

Kaplan founded Chapter One Films in 2013, with a first look deal with Blumhouse Productions that led to the production of Akiva Goldsman's Stephanie and The Lazarus Effect. He also produced Viral from directors Henry Joost and Ariel Shulman and 6 Miranda Drive. Kaplan previously worked as a Senior VP at Lionsgate Films, overseeing projects such as They Came Together. He also spent time at CBS as director of digital development.
