Awesome Media to Develop ‘Princess Ponies’ for Television

With plans to develop the franchise for the small screen, London-based Awesome Media & Entertainment secures a deal with Bloomsbury Children’s Books to publish four new titles in the best-selling series by Jeff Norton.

LONDON --  Awesome Media & Entertainment, the company founded by Canadian-born creator, author and screenwriter Jeff Norton has secured a deal with Bloomsbury Children’s Books to publish four new titles of his best-selling Princess Ponies books, bringing the total number in the series to 12.

The new titles will have distinct holiday themes: Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Halloween, and Christmas. Bloomsbury will publish exclusive Scholastic Book Clubs and Fairs editions in 2017 and following that, the new Princess Ponies titles will launch globally. Awesome is also developing the franchise for the small screen, following the company’s recent expansion of its television capacity with the appointment of Peter Sussman to the board.

Princess Ponies was created by Jeff Norton and is co-written by Norton and author Julie Sykes under the penname “Chloe Ryder.” The Princess Ponies books were first published in the UK in 2013, and have sold over 400,000 copies across eight titles in over 30 territories. Most recently the books have been translated into Russian and Portuguese for the Brazilian market.

Cindy Loh, U.S. Publisher of Bloomsbury Children’s Books commented, “We are delighted to publish more in the successful Princess Ponies series, offering young readers escapist action stories about courage and determination.”

Princess Ponies is a Trojan horse of a brand; pink and sparkly on the outside but swashbuckling action-adventure on the inside,” added Norton. “Our readers find themselves fully immersed in the life of intrepid 8-year-old Pippa Macdonald and we are confident that she will translate to a universal television audience.”
