Ratatouille Smells Sweet at BAFTAs

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts handed out the 2008 Orange British Academy Film Awards. Disney-Pixar's RATATOUILLE took home the prize for Best Animated Feature Film, beating out Fox's THE SIMPSONS MOVIE and DreamWorks' SHREK THE THIRD. Aardman Animations won over the hometown crowd winning Best Short Animation for THE PEARCE SISTERS from director Luis Cook and producer Jo Allen. The other nominees were John McCloskey's THE CRUMBLEGIANT and HEAD OVER HEELS from Osbert Parker, Fiona Pitkin and Ian Gouldstone.

The Best Special Effects BAFTA went to THE GOLDEN COMPASS (Michael Fink, Bill Westenhofer, Ben Morris, Trevor Woods). edging out THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM (Peter Chiang, Charlie Noble, Mattias Lindahl, Joss Williams), PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD'S END (John Knoll, Charles Gibson, Hal Hickel, John Frazier), HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX (Tim Burke, John Richardson, Emma Norton, Chris Shaw) and SPIDER-MAN 3 (Scott Stokdyk, Peter Nofz, Kee-Suk Ken Hahn, Spencer Cook).
