POWERPUFF GIRLS captured three awards, including overall License of the Year, at the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) Annual Awards Gala, recognizing the brightest in the multi-billion dollar worldwide licensing industry in 2000. POWERPUFF GIRLS also captured two awards in the Entertainment/Character category, including License of the Year and Licensee of the Year/Soft Goods, for POWERPUFF GIRLS Apparel. Kellogg’s is marketing a POWERPUFF GIRLS breakfast cereal and Delta Airlines has the characters decorating the tailfins of its planes. The licensed products grossed over $350 million at retail in the U.S. alone, making it one of the hottest entertainment licenses of 2000. Other LIMA multiple award winners included BARBIE, winning three awards in the Brand/Corporate category, and Hit Entertainment, a two-time winner in the International sector. Warner Bros. Consumer Products’ THE BATMAN/ON STAR ADVENTURES for General Motors, Lexus and Acura, won the award for Best Promotion of the Year. Activision was awarded Licensee of the Year for their TONY HAWK PRO SKATER videogame. The Annual Licensing Awards (New York, June 13, 2001) are selected by the more than 1,000 members of LIMA.
