MPSE Golden Reels Awarded For Sound Editing

The Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) organization held their 49th MPSE Golden Reel Awards banquet on Saturday, March 23, 2002 at the Century Plaza Hotel in Century City, California. The Golden Reel Awards acknowledge the year's best work in the various areas of sound editing. Winning the award for Best Sound Editing –- Music, Television Animated Series was Michael Geisler and BadaBing BadaBoom Productions, Inc. for their work on THE CRAMP TWINS, a Sunbow Entertainment/TV-Loonland and Cartoon Network UK co-production. Veteran sound effects editor Geisler was particularly pleased with the award, his first for music work on a series: "I really appreciated the opportunity. It was my first time editing music for an entire animated series, and it is great to be recognized," he said. Nickelodeon’s SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS won Best Sound Editing -- Television Animation for the third year in a row. Other animated winners at the Golden Reel Awards were SHREK, who won for Best Sound Editing –- Music, Animated Feature, and ATLANTIS: THE LOST EMPIRE, which won for Best Sound Editing –- Animated Feature Film.
