Alias|Wavefront's Maya won the "Best of Show" award at Macworld 2001, awarded by MacWeek.com. While Alias|Wavefront originally announced that it would be porting Maya to Mac OS X in May of 2000, Macworld San Francisco marked the company's first public demonstration of Maya on the Mac: both at the Alias|Wavefront booth and during Apple CEO, Steve Jobs' keynote address. "All in all Macworld was an astounding show for us," says Director of Maya Technolgoies, Richard Kerris. "Apple has been very supportive throughout our development process. We were privileged to be the only third party chosen to participate in the keynote session. The audience was very impressed by what they saw and our booth was constantly packed with people wanting to know more about Maya and its availability on the Mac. The Best of Show award was another great honor, one which perfectly topped off an extremely successful show for Alias|Wavefront." The arrival of Maya for the Mac is an important sign to the 3D industry that the Macintosh is being looked at as a very serious 3D production platform with the arrival of OS X.
