The LEAF Awards were presented on October 9th during the Digital Media World Conference, October 9-11, 2002. The LEAF Awards showcases and promotes the best new work, skills and services of companies and individuals involved in creative development of visual effects and animation. The nominees were comprised of some of the top visual effects and animation houses today, such as Sony Pictures Imageworks, ILM, The Mill, Passion Pictures, Framestore CFC and many others. Sony Pictures Imageworks took best short film for The ChubbChubbs, the company’s first CGI short. Framestore was honored with multiple awards, including best commercial in both the animation and the live-action effects categories for "Mosquito" and "Champagne," respectively.
