John Lasseter Becomes ShoWest’s First ‘Pioneer of Animation’
John Lasseter will be given the first “Pioneer of Animation” Award at the ShoWest exhibitors convention next Tuesday evening (March 14) in Las Vegas fola screening of CARS at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel. Disney will release CARS June 9.
CARS is Lasseter’s first directorial effort since TOY STORY 2 in 1999, following A BUG’S LIFE (1998) and TOY STORY (1995). In addition to being a co-founder and exec vp creative of Pixar Animation Studios, Lasseter is now chief creative officer of the combined Disney/Pixar animation departments.
