BAFTA Children’s Film And Television Nominations Announced

Hobbits, wizards, monsters and an adventurous mouse will all be hoping to walk away with a BAFTA at this year’s British Academy Children’s Film and Television Awards, presented in association with the LEGO Company. LORD OF THE RINGS: FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING, HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER’S STONE, MONSTERS, INC. and STUART LITTLE 2 have all been nominated in the Feature Film category, with the winner to be announced on November 24, 2002 in a ceremony at London’s Park Lane Hilton. The awards ceremony, now in its seventh year, honors the best in children’s TV and film. In the Animation category, ANGELINA BALLERINA will compete against THE CRAMP TWINS, ANIMATED TALES OF THE WORLD and SIR GAWAIN & THE GREEN KNIGHT. The Preschool Animation category finds ANDY PANDY up against BOB THE BUILDER, EDDY & THE BEAR and SALI MALI. Other animated nominees include ANGELA ANACONDA and CUBIX in the International category. In addition to the 14 categories that are judged by the BAFTA juries, there will also be the LEGO/BAFTA Kids’ Vote. Audience members can vote online beginning November 4, 2002 at www.baftalego.com from a shortlist drawn up by the participating broadcasters: Cartoon Network, CBBC, CiTV, Channel 4, Disney, Fox Kids, Nickelodeon and S4C.
