The animated TV-series/sitcom Ask Lara, from the extensive rights portfolio of German brand management and media company m4e AG, has been nominated for a prestigious Emmy Award in the animation category of the recently established International Emmy Kids Awards. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on February 8th 2013 in New York City.

After three judging rounds over a six-month period, a jury of experts from 67 countries has picked four shows from the very best children’s programs around the world, Ask Lara being one of them. The nomination recognizes an innovative style of animation programming, carefully thought out down to the last detail.

Ask Lara (26 x 11 min.) is a project developed by Barcelona-based cartoon studio Tomavistas, co-produced with Televisió de Catalunya, Red Kite Animation (UK) and Submarine (The Netherlands), while being co-financed by the BBC (UK) and VPRO (The Netherlands). m4e’s subsidiary and international TV-distribution arm Telescreen BV is handling TV sales for Continental and Eastern Europe, Australia, Africa, Middle East, USA and Canada. The series has been acquired and broadcast in countries across Europe and Latin America, on channels such as BBC (UK), Canal+ (France), NRK (Norway), TV3 (Spain) and Pro Plus (Slovenia). Further broadcasts in more territories will follow in 2013.

The series is best discribed as tween sitcom, aiming at 9 to 13-year-old kids and tackling the adventures of pre-teen age with humour, as a group of friends stays in a foreign country as part of a language exchange program. In the center of the story is 12-year old Lara who has to embark on the rocky road of puberty together wirh her friends. All of them going through this exciting, confusing and at times scary phase of their lives, but they all cope with it in very different ways.
