During a recent screening of the ASIFA-East Festival films, ASIFA-San Francisco hosted an audience award and has now announced the winners. Bill Plympton’s THE FAN AND THE FLOWERS received the grand prize. More than 50% of all voters voted for Plympton’s film and a third of the first prize votes were cast for THE FAN.

There was a tie for first place between John R. Dilworth’s LIFE IN TRANSITION and SUITE FOR FREEDOM from Acme Filmworks. Honorable mentions go to Nina Paley for SITA SINGS THE BLUES, Christopher Conforti for FROG, Patrick Smith for HANDSHAKE and PES’s SHOE.
