ASIFA-Hollywood, the Los Angeles area-based branch of the International Animated Film Society, has announced the nominations for the 29th Annual Annie Awards. Nominees in the best feature category are BLOOD: THE LAST VAMPIRE, OSMOSIS JONES, SHREK and THE EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE. Although it received six nominations, ATLANTIS: THE LOST EMPIRE was shut out of the best feature race, while BLOOD: THE LAST VAMPIRE received its only nomination in this category. The summer blockbuster SHREK leads the feature nominations with twelve, barely edging out THE EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE, which picked up eleven nods. Poor box office didn't affect OSMOSIS JONES in the eyes of the nominating committee; the animated/live-action feature received six nominations. Over in television, last year's winner of the outstanding primetime or late night animated TV program THE SIMPSONS received two nominations, but leading all TV entries was INVADER ZIM with six nods, followed closely by BATMAN BEYOND and THE FAIRLY ODDPARENTS with five each. San Francisco-based Wild Brain Inc. received 3 noms for three different shows in the outstanding animated production for the Internet category with Nick's Webisodes of THE FAIRLY ODDPARENTS also picking up a nod.
