2004-2005 Primetime Emmy Award Nominations

Nominations for the 57th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were announced on July 14, 2005 and FOX and Cartoon Network won the most primetime Emmy nominations for animated shows with four each, but SCI FI Network had six noms in the visual effects arena. FAMILY GUY edges into the primetime Emmy race along with SOUTH PARK, THE SIMPSONS, SAMURAI JACK and SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS, which are nominated for Outstanding Animated Program (For Programming Less Than One Hour).

THE SIMPSONS also received nominations for Outstanding Music And Lyrics plus Outstanding Music Composition For A Series, as did FOSTERS HOME FOR IMAGINARY FRIENDS and JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED.

SCI FI Channel dominates Outstanding Special Visual Effects For A Series category, with two noms each for STARGATE and BATTLESTAR GALACTICA and there was nom for LOST on ABC.

Competing for Outstanding Special Visual Effects For A Miniseries, Movie or a Special are DRAGONS: A FANTASY MADE REAL; FARSCAPE: THE PEACEKEEPER WARS, Night Two; LEGEND OF EARTHSEA; THE LIFE AND DEATH OF PETER SELLERS and SUPERVOLCANO.

CLASSICAL BABY also obtained a birth as the only animated show nominated for Outstanding Children's Program, competing against THATS SO RAVEN, ZOEY 101, PRIDE and NICK NEWS WITH LINDA ELLERBEE.

The awards presentation telecast awarding Emmys in 27 categories before a black-tie audience will air on the CBS Television Network Sunday, September 19, from the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium. The Academy's Governors Ball will follow the telecast at the Shrine Exhibition Hall, adjacent to the auditorium. This year's Emmy telecast will be, exec produced by Ken Ehrlich, produced by Michael B. Seligman and Renato Basile, with Danette Herman serving as coordinating producer and exec in charge of talent with Bruce Gowers directing.

Awards for the majority of animation and visual effects categories will be presented on September 11 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, in a non-televised ceremony, chaired by Lee Miller, exec produced by Michael Hoey and John Moffit with Spike Jones, Jr. producing and Ron de Moraes directing. The main program categories and honors for acting and writing will be handed out during the telecast at the Shrine September 18 on CBS.

Additional awards may also be given for the "juried areas" (nominations) of Voice Over Performance and Individual Achievement in Animation, which will be released in August. Additional awards may also be given for Engineering Development, Interactive Television Programming and the Governors Award. These awards, if any, will be announced later in July.
