James Cameron and 20th Century Fox have leased a space at the MBS Media Campus in Manhattan Beach to conduct the performance capture for the AVATAR sequels, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Details of the financials were not announced.

The studio and office complex is 580,000 square feet, which includes 15 soundstages. The location is most likely going to be the new home of Cameron's Lightstorm Ent. Raleigh Studios runs the facility for its owner, the private equity company Carlyle Group.

The original film was filmed at the Hercules Campus in Playa Vista with Lightstorm offices in Santa Monica. The three-story Santa Monica building is now up for sale for $11.85 million. Additionally, the Hercules Campus was bought last year by Ratkovich Co. for $32.4 million and is under renovations.

A decision has not been made where the live-action elements of the film will be shot. The live-action for the first film was shot in New Zealand close to WETA, which is expected to return as the visual effects company on the new films.

AVATAR 2 is set for release in Dec. 2014 with AVATAR 3 coming the next holiday season.

MBS Media Campus also houses Marvel Studios.
