Mike Myers is set to star in the remake of the Danny Kaye comedy, THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY, for 20th Century Fox, reports the trades. Jay Kogen (TV's FRASIER, MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE) is the writer and Samuel Goldwyn Jr. is the producer.
The story follows a daydreamer who escapes the doldrums of his everyday life by entering wild and adventurous fantasy worlds.
The long in the works project has at one time or another had such stars attached as Jim Carrey, Eddie Murphy, Whoopi Goldberg (as Martha Mitty) and recently Owen Wilson. Rumored directors include Steven Spielberg and Chuck Russell.
