Audiences Into He's Just Not That Into You

Following the trend of female-driven movies dominating the box office, HE'S JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU won the weekend for Warner Bros. (New Line) with a take of $27.8 million.

Liam Neeson's actioner TAKEN placed second in its second week out, making $2053M for Fox and a total gross of $53.6M.

Henry Selick's stop-motion CORALINE (animation by Laika) opened in third place, earning $16.8M for Focus Features.

Sony's THE PINK PANTHER 2 (Sony) opened in fourth place with $11.6M. Fifth place went to another Sony comedy, PAUL BLART: MALL COP with $10.9M and a four-week total of $96.9M.

Summit Ent.'s PUSH (vfx by Peerless Camera Company and Digiscope) opened in the sixth position, earning $10.08M.

SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE placed seventh, bringing in $7.2M for Fox Searchlight and over 13 weeks has a gross of $77.2M.

GRAN TORINO earned $7.2M for eighth place and has a nine-week haul of $120.2M.

Horror remake THE UNINVITED (Paramount/DreamWorks, vfx by CIS Vancouver) made $6.3M and placed ninth, earning $18.2M in two weeks in release.

Also from Paramount/DreamWorks, family comedy HOTEL FOR DOGS made another $5.7M and in four weeks has a total cume of $55.1M.

In animation, MADAGASCAR: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA (Paramount/DreamWorks) brought in $247,079 and in 14 weeks has made $179.6M. Universal's THE TALE OF DESPEREAUX (animation by Framestore) made another $223,560 and $50.2M in eight weeks.

WALTZ WITH BASHIR (Sony Pictures Classics) made $137,749 and $1.216M in seven weeks. Disney's BOLT earned another $111,175 and in 12 weeks has done $113.12M. FLY ME TO THE MOON did another $30,460 for Summit Ent. and in 26 weeks has made $12.8M.
