AtomShockwave Becomes Atom Ent.

AtomShockwave Corp. announced it has officially changed its corporate name to Atom Ent. Inc. The change was spurred by recent acquisitions, a newly created video directory and an advertising network that greatly expand the company's brand lineup and advertising opportunities. Atom Ent. now operates as the corporate umbrella for game sites Shockwave.com and AddictingGames and video sites AtomFilms and AddictingClips.

"With four major websites already under our corporate umbrella and more growth planned, AtomShockwave needed a name that mirrors our growth and future in online entertainment," said Mika Salmi, ceo of Atom Ent. "Short-form, on-demand entertainment is something we started in 1998 with AtomFilms, and our new corporate name reflects both our history and our continued commitment to 'atomized' content that is ideally suited to the Web and connected devices."

In November, the company announced the acquisition of AddictingGames, the heavily trafficked online games portal. This acquisition coupled with AtomFilms and Shockwave.com growth, grew the company's audience to more than 30 million unique users per month

Shortly after the acquisition, Shockwave.com unveiled the Shockwave Immersive Network, the largest in-game advertising network for online games. Many leading consumer brands have already begun advertising on the Shockwave.com Immersive Network such as Intel, LG Electronics and Microsoft Game Studios ZOO TYCOON 2: ENDANGERED SPECIES. The network reaches 22 million users.

Most recently, Atom Ent. launched AddictingClips, an online video directory that filters, searches and sorts the most entertaining video on the Web as another forum for advertisers. The AddictingClips directory contains more than 1,000 videos and is paired with a video search engine.

A marketer and distributor of digital entertainment, Atom Ent. was formed by the 2001 merger of Internet pioneers Shockwave.com and AtomFilms. The company operates on an multi-tiered business model featuring advertising, sponsorship, e-commerce, subscription and distribution revenue streams. Collectively, more than 30 million entertainment fans visit the Atom Ent. sites each month. Based in San Francisco, the company has satellite offices in New York, L.A. and Chicago as well as a joint venture in Japan.
