Asian Animation Summit Sets Venue

The 2013 Asian Animation Summit will take place on the tropical island of Phuket in Thailand December 9-11, 2013.

Toronto, Canada -- Kidscreen announced that the location of the 2013 Asian Animation Summit is the tropical island of Phuket in Thailand. The event will once again be held right after Asia Television Forum from December 9-11, in a five-star resort & spa venue on Karon Beach that will be announced shortly.

An initiative of Australia’s ABC TV & Screen Australia, Korea’s KOCCA and Malaysia’s MDeC, the Asian Animation Summit is produced and owned by Kidscreen, and supported by Singapore’s MDA. Its aim is to showcase the best new animated projects from Australia, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and other Asian countries to potential co-producers, broadcasters, distributors and investors.

Designed to stimulate co-production and co-financing, AAS 2013 will feature 24 projects from the Asian region seeking financing and market feedback. All projects will again be carefully selected by the organizing partners based on global-market potential and quality.

This year’s event will take place over three days instead of two, with an expanded program featuring concurrent project presentations so that AAS attendees will have a chance to see every animated concept selected for the showcase.

Each day will also begin with a highly informative “Regional Funding Seminar” that explores the intricacies and benefits of setting up co-productions in Australia, Malaysia and Korea. These three critical learning sessions should give the event’s delegates a top-to-bottom understanding of where the funding for kids programming is in Asia, and how to tap into it with the right partners.
