Atlanta, Georgia - Artistic Image, the Atlanta-based hybrid production, visual effects and post-production company, has expanded its talent roster with the signing of motion designer/art director James Roberson to its team.

While honing his skills as a motion designer and art director, Roberson has spent the past decade pursuing his passion for visual storytelling in a diverse mix of roles that running the gamut from editor, commercial director, live-action producer and cinematographer to music composer and photographer. 

Artistic Image founder, Ed Dye first introduced Roberson to his team as the freelance motion designer for the company’s recent campaign for Busch Gardens. Roberson proved to be a great fit with both the company’s staff and their collaborative, one-stop approach to working as a unit with a shared creative vision on commercials, cross-platform campaigns, web-based media, network promos and long-form films projects. He also freelanced on a TV campaign for Western Digital with Artistic Image before joining the company fulltime.

Roberson’s artistic aesthetic drives his work, along with his artful use of cutting-edge technology - such as After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Cinema 4D, Boujou, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver, Adobe Premiere – and skill as a cinematographer and photographer.

Jim Roberson first stint in the industry was in 2000 as editor and music composer at V1 Digital in Mobile, Alabama. He moved to Birmingham two years later to join the creative team at Atelier Digital, a high-end visual FX house where he worked on a mix of projects for a long list of clients, including Alabama Tourism, Auburn University, Malibu Boats, and Vanderbilt Hospital.  In 2004 he decided to step out on his own, and launched Full Resolution Design, with the help of three other partners, taking on the role of producer, cinematographer and motion designer. 

After four years successfully helming his own company the draw of New York - and a desire to take his career to the next level - prompted a move to Manhattan, where began building a reputation in the commercial arena as a high-end freelance art director and motion designer. Three months later Superfad, the NY-based design and production company, signed Roberson to its talent roster, giving him an opportunity to hone his talents as art director and project lead on numerous ESPN promo packages for Monday Night Football, College Football, and the Winter X Games. His work in the commercial arena included, the pitch that won Chiat Day’s Visa’s high-profile ‘Go World’ campaign, which aired during the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and ‘Motorblur,’ Ogilvy and Mather’s spot for ‘Motorla which aired during the 2009 world series.

In 2009 Superfad sent him to Buenos Aires as technical director for ‘Makeover,’ a global campaign for Samsung Star Phone out of Cheil/Korea. He also had the opportunity to collaborate with one of his favorite hip hop artists, Mos Def,  as art director and animator for his music video ‘Casa Bey,’ which peaked at number four on the iTunes Music Video Charts [ http://itunes.apple.com/us/video/casa-bey/id318083241
