Thomas Langmann’s The Artist took the top prize for Best Picture at the 84th Academy Awards, beating out Jim Burke, Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor’s The Descendants, Scott Rudin’s Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Brunson Green, Chris Columbus, and Michael Barnathan’s The Help, Graham King and Martin Scorsese’s Hugo , Letty Aronson and Stephen Tenenbaum’s Midnight in Paris, Michael De Luca, Rachael Horovitz, and Brad Pitt’s Moneyball, Sarah Green, Bill Pohlad, Dede Gardner and Grant Hill’s The Tree of Life, and Steven Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy’s War Horse.
