Arthur Hair Tapped for CTO at Disney Studios

Arthur Hair has been named cto/svp for The Walt Disney Studios. He will report to president Alan Bergman and will be responsible for the studios technology strategies. He will work closely with the studios business units to identify opportunities for leveraging technology to take advantage of the rapidly evolving marketplace.

Arthur is a brilliant technologist and a pioneer in the area of delivering video via the Internet, said Bergman. Were thrilled to have an innovator of his stature on our team at this critical juncture in the evolution of entertainment technology.

Hair previously served as cto for broadband entertainment distribution company SightSound Technologies, a position he held since 1995. He was the architect of SightSounds proprietary Secure Media eCommerce System, which automated the electronic sale of movies and music from geographically distributed data centers around the U.S.

Since 1993, Hair has received patents in the U.S. and around the world in the fields of audio/video e-commerce, audio/video compression and applied encryption.

Hair began his career at Texas Instruments in its Defense Electronics division as a manufacturing engineer working on Forward Looking Infrared night vision systems.

He received a B.S. degree in Industrial Management with a minor in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University in 1982.
