The Sony comedy ARE WE THERE YET? debuted in the number one spot with $18.5M for the weekend ended Jan. 23, 2005. Paramounts COACH CARTER came in second in its sophomore week with $10.5M and $42.7M. Universals MEET THE FOCKERS dropped to third with $9.6M and $247.2M. Universals IN GOOD COMPANY took the fourth spot with $7.9M and $27.4M. Coming in fifth was Warner Bros. RACING STRIPES (with vfx from Digital Dimension and Hybride) with $6.8M and a cume of $27M. Focus ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 remake (with vfx from Amce F/X and Mr. X Inc.) debuted in sixth place with $6.5M. Universals WHITE NOISE slipped to the seventh spot with $4.9M and $49.3M. Miramaxs THE AVIATOR (with vfx from Sony Pictures Imageworks and CaféFX) picked up $4.8M for an eighth place finish on its way to $58M, as it awaits tomorrows Oscar noms. Holding the ninth spot with $4.5M and a lackluster $33.1M was Warner Bros. THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (with vfx from Cinesite (Europe) and Asylum). Rounding out the top 10 was Foxs ELEKTRA, which managed only $3.9M in its second week for an unspectacular cume of $20.3M.
