As any learned Adult Swim fan now knows, a network signature series, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, is back in a brand new series, Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1! After 100+ episodes of living in South Jersey, Meatwad, Frylock and Master Shake gathered their wits, moved across the country to Seattle, and rebranded themselves as hard as they could. Never fear, though - fans can still enjoy the trio's classic hijinx as they kick crime in the nuts - this time, on DVD. On October 11, 2011, Adult Swim and Warner Home Video will welcome the newly-branded series to DVD with the release of Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1: Season 1. Jam packed with all 10 episodes from the first season of this series -- as well as the final seven unreleased Aqua Teen Hunger Force episodes - and the highly-anticipated continuation of the "Terror Phone" saga, "Terror Phone 3", the two-disc set will be available for the suggested retail price of $29.98.
After having a good run with one of Adult Swim's most popular and longest running original series, Aqua Teen Hunger Force co-creators Dave Willis and Matt Maiellaro have retooled the escapades of Frylock, Master Shake, Meatwad and their infamous neighbor Carl, and packaged them under a brand new banner and new theme song written, composed and performed by Joshua Homme of Queens of the Stone Age and Alain Johannes. The closing theme shred guitar performance is by co-creator Maiellaro. The new Seattle transplants also do a lot of the things they've done over the past 10 years: look for a new place to put their stuff, pay rent, make gut-wrenching decisions and talk about life while sipping herbal tea. Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1 premiered May 8 at 11:45 p.m. (ET/PT) on Adult Swim and new episodes continue to premier on Sunday nights.
During its eighth season, Aqua Teen Hunger Force was the #1 show in its time period among Adults 18-24, Men 18-24, Adults 18-34 and Men 18-34 in a rank of late night programs on broadcast and cable. Additionally, in its first four weeks, Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1 has been a top five show among Men 18-24.
Adult Swim will support the DVD release of Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1: Season 1 with a consumer marketing campaign targeting fans of Adult Swim. Thirty-second television ads will be featured on Adult Swim, while online advertisements will also be featured on entertainment sites.
