Aps Due for European Animation Masterclass

Fernesh Akademie Mitteldeutschland will host a fifth European Animation Masterclass September 1, 2003 to January 30, 2004 in Halle, Germany. Applications for 10 participants are due by July 31 for the international training program co-funded in equal portions by the MEDIA Plus Program of the European Commission and the regional film promotion entity, Mitteldeutsche Medienforderung GumbH.

International renowned instructors from around the world will tutor participants as they produce their own one-minute films. Following the training phase, EAM arranges an internship with a European animation studio. EAM participants who are citizens of a member states of the MEDIA program (except Germany) will receive a scholarship to the European Animation Masterclass. Participating producers so far include studios in Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Italy, the U.K., Ireland and Sweden.

The EAM training course, was started in 2000 to offer students and graduates of art courses a kind of apprenticeship to give them their first practical experience in animation studios. The EAM sees itself as a support of the European animation industry to generate up-and-coming potential talent and to integrate them into the production process, as a bridge between training and industry.
