Former Netflix games executive Leanne Loombe has been tapped as executive vice president, head of games at Annapurna. She will tackle publishing, development, and creative for games in development, and will report to president of interactive and new media Hector Sanchez, who continues to oversee the company’s larger games strategy. Before her time at Netflix, Loombe held positions at Riot and EA.
“I’m excited to build on Annapurna’s legacy as a home for developers pushing the boundaries of storytelling,” stated Loombe.
“Few leaders have Leanne’s breadth of experience across QA, publishing, and internal game development,” said Sanchez. “She understands what it takes to make a good game from the inside-out, which is what makes her a great partner for our developers.”
Last September, after a deal to spin-off Annapurna Interactive as its own company fell through, the entire staff resigned along with former president Nathan Gary.
Since launching its games division in 2016, Annapurna has produced award-winning indie hits such as What Remains of Edith Finch and Stray, which has garnered an animated film adaptation (currently in development). Other fan-favorite games include Control, Alan Wake, and Outer Wilds.
