Due to the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, organizers have cancelled the 2011 edition of the Tokyo Anime Fair, reports Variety. The event was scheduled to run from March 24-17.

The 2011 Tokyo Anime Fair was troubled before the tragedy that struck Japan. The Tokyo metropolitan government, which was sponsoring the event, had passed a new law that would curb sexual explicit content in anime. This drew strong protest from many publishers who backed out of the event and went on to form their own event, Anime Contents Expo (which is still set to run from March 26-27 at the Makuhari Messe).

Even though this has no direct affect on me, a lot of people agree with the publishers.
