David R. Ellis (SHARK NIGHT 3D) has signed on to helm a live-action remake of the anime film KITE, reports The Hollywood Reporter. The original follows a young woman who battle government corruption in order to discover the murder of her police officer father.

Distant Horizon’s Anant Singh and Brian Cox and Detalle Films’ Moises Cosio and Alejandro Saevich are the producers.

Filming will start in January.
