Press Release from The Science and Technology Council of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

Beverly Hills, CA -- The Science and Technology Council of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has selected four individuals to participate in a summer internship program for students interested in careers in motion picture computer graphics and animation technology.

Currently in its third year, the program provides eight-week internships that give students hands-on, real-world experience working with pioneering technologies in the motion picture industry. Pixar Animation Studios, Rhythm & Hues Studios and the Science and Technology Council itself are each hosting interns. The Council is providing a $4,000 stipend to each of the four students.

The 2009 Science and Technology Council summer interns are:

Sebastian Burke, University of California, Berkeley -- Pixar Animation Studios
Christopher J. Clark, Rochester Institute of Technology -- Science and Technology Council
Henry Wang, UCLA -- Science and Technology Council
Qing Xing, Texas A & M University -- Rhythm & Hues Studios

Established in 2003 by the Academy's Board of Governors, the Science and Technology Council provides a forum for the exchange of information, promotes cooperation among diverse technological interests within the industry, sponsors publications, fosters educational activities and preserves the history of science and technology of motion pictures.
