Animaze 2016 to present the Canadian premiere of immersive VR environment ‘APES,’ created by George Snow, and ‘Samskara,’ a psychedelic immersive digital art exhibit from ILM alum Android Jones.

Passes are now on sale for Animaze 2016, the Montreal International Animation Film Festival & Industry Conference to be held this summer August 18-21. Early Bird passes are available through July 1.

Presented by TELETOON, Animaze is an international film festival and industry conference dedicated to exploring the art of animation in all its diversity, hosting filmmakers from more than 65 countries working in a wide range of genres and styles.

The Animaze industry conference brings together professionals for unique networking opportunities. Animation studios, VFX vendors, technology companies and film producers will share an exhibition hall and take in a series of panels and masterclasses. Past speakers have included Oscar winner Co Hoedeman, Disney alum Mike Weismeier and British-Canadian director Gerald Potterton.

This year Aimaze is spotlighting VR with immersive Virtual Reality Cinema and Dome experiences. The festival has partnered with Fulldome.pro to bring its revolutionary portable 360º dome to Montreal. The Dome has been featured at E3 and Burning Man, and its appearance at Animaze is a Canadian first. Premiering at the Animaze Dome is immersive VR environment APES, created by filmmaker George Snow.

Also on deck is Samskara, a psychedelic immersive digital art exhibit from digital artist and ILM alum Android Jones, who specializes in immersive experiences and whose work has been projected on the Empire State Building and the Vatican.
