Animator of the Year CompetitionDeadline: April 1, 2009

Be recognized as a top animator. As part of their renowned Animate the World Festival, the Barbican is launching an Animator of the Year competition this year to recognize undiscovered talent in the U.K.

As a highly respected animation forum we'd appreciate your support in helping us to spread the word about this competition -- as well as perhaps entering yourself.

What's up for grabs:

Animator of the Year Winner:-- Winner's name and animation will be posted on the Barbican Animate the World website on Friday, April 3.-- A pair of tickets to every screening in the festival (excluding the Family Film Club screening)-- A pair of tickets to one of the special adult animation workshops during the festival.-- A special box set of Pixar DVDs

Animator of the Year Runner up:-- A pair of tickets to a festival screening of your choice (excluding the Family Film Club screening)

Entrants can design and share their own animations via the dedicated online Animation Studio at www.barbican.org.uk/animate. We also have a free pair of tickets for any screening during the festival for you to use as you wish, for example in a competition to your members.

The Barbican's Animate the World festival starts on Saturday, April 4, and this year features a brand new strand; Animate Advanced, catering especially for adult fans of animation. Festival goers can enjoy new animations such as Bill Plymtpon's nourish IDIOTS AND ANGELS and classics like Rene Laloux's FANTASTIC PLANET.

All animations submitted onto the site must be suitable for all ages. All entries must be submitted by Wednesday April 1, 2009. Any animations deemed to be unsuitable will be immediately removed and disqualified from the competition. Animator of the Year is not open to under 12s. There is a separate Young Animator of the Year competition open for this age group. Animate the World festival runs from Saturday April 4 through Thursday April 9, 2009.
