Craig Miller, chair of the Caucus said, Mark Evanier has been a mainstay of television animation since the late 1970s. His work as a creator, writer, producer and voice director have always been of the highest order and for that work alone Mark would be more than worthy of this award, said But when you add to his professional accomplishments all the work he has done on behalf of writers, individually and collectively, he stands head and shoulders above most others in the field. It is with great pride that the Animation Writers Caucus presents its life-career award to him.

Currently working for The Cartoon Network on a untitled pilot, Evanier wrote or co-wrote all 121 half-hours of GARFIELD AND FRIENDS and has has also lent his talents to DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS, SCOOBY-DOO, THUNDARR THE BARBARIAN, PLASTIC MAN, RICHIE RICH, THE FLINTSTONES as well as writing for such live-action shows as WELCOME BACK KOTTER, THE LOVE BOAT and CHEERS. He has moderated numerous industry panels about animation writing and voice acting.

Founded in 1994, the Caucus assists animation writers and helps to better the circumstances under which they work. By assisting with organizing efforts and by providing shared information, a code of ethics, educational and networking opportunities, the WGAw Animation Writers Caucus (www.wga.org) is working to improve the field of animation.
