Animation Block Party Awards Prizes

On Sept. 15, 2005, Animation Block Party ended the sweltering NYC summer with a festival that featured more than 60 short films in three September screenings at BAM Rose Cinemas in Brooklyn. Animations from Canada, Australia and Europe meshed well with the top festival films from the U.S. The genres featured were diverse, ranging from stop-motion to experimental films, personal narrative work, music videos and gross-out humor.

The festival jury decided on numerous festival honors, including a student film prize that was augmented with an opportunity for the student winner to direct an animation spot for festival sponsor, Crumpler Bags. This prize was awarded to Lizzi Akana for her film, MARVELOUS, KEEN LOONY BIN.

Other festival honors were given out to Kyle Bakers THE HOUR for minute movie, Greg Condons BODY SPLASH for original design, Nylon Motions IROC SONG for music video, Andy and Carolyn Londons THE BACKBRACE for best in show and Ben Meinhardts BINGE AND PURGE won the Audience Award.

Attending Block Party filmmakers included John Schnall, Robert Rutan, Yusuke Murakami, Candy Kugel, Vincent Cafarelli, Kyle Baker, Bob Fox, Leo Weiss, David Schlafman, Holly Anger, Greg Condon, Andy and Carolyn London and many more.
