Press Release from Moving Picture Books

Knoxville, TN -- Moving Picture Books, a partnership between RIVR Media Interactive and Dalmatian Press, announces a line of digital, high-quality children's book favorites. The offerings combine the best storytelling with leading edge technology to magically bring storybooks to life. The selection of titles, including many classics, is available exclusively in digital format and currently offered as an application on the Apple iPhone, on DVD and at www.movingpicturebooks.com. Wider distribution at retail and for use on mobile phones is planned for later in 2009.

The digital storybooks, including such favorite classics as I KNOW AN OLD LADY WHO SWALLOWED A FLY and ON TOP OF SPAGHETTI, are packaged with English and Spanish narration-only versions in addition to the read-along versions with text. These are stories that parents grew up with and that they are now able to pass onto their kids in a 21st century way through computers, Apple iPhones and other mobile devices.

"Parents can read along with their kids or download a story for them to enjoy while they navigate through their busy days," said Dee Haslam, CEO of RIVR Media. "Accessing is easy and Moms can take the stories with them for car trips, waiting rooms and grocery store visits. Whether eager or struggling readers, their kids can learn and have fun doing it."

"In my experience, the one thing that is key to all education is engagement," said Dr. Bob Rider, Dean of the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences at the University of Tennessee and advisor to Moving Picture Books. "Books, whether hard copies or portable downloads and disks, open a child's imagination and assist with the development of creativity and thought processes. Reading is the most fundamental and important skill children need to learn, and we hope that these digital stories inspire kids to read more."

When parents download a story or access via DVD, they can choose titles like EIGHT SILLY MONKEYS and GOOD MORNING, GOODNIGHT where they'll see fully animated stories and hear narration by children and adults. The text versions highlight the words as they are read. Children are treated to the surprise of movement and sounds as the stories come to life.
