Turner Broadcasting System upped James Anderson from vp of public relations of public relations for Cartoon Network to svp of public relations for Turner's recently formed Animation, Young Adults & Kids Media group, responsible for public relations and publicity efforts supporting the cable television networks Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Adult Swim; the digital businesses Cartoonnetwork.com, AdultSwim.com, Toonami Jetstream, Cartoon Network Video, GameTap and Super Deluxe; and two animation production facilities: Cartoon Network Studios in Burbank and Williams Street Studios in Atlanta.

Anderson is based in Atlanta and reports to Shirley Powell, svp of corporate communications for Turner Broadcasting System, while working closely with Stuart Snyder, evp/coo of the group.

"James's promotion reflects his growing responsibilities and the focus our company is placing on the kid and young adult marketplace," said Powell. "Forming a new group and positioning Stu Snyder at its head, with support from senior-team members like James, positions the individual entertainment brands for growth and will foster smart strategy execution across the portfolio. James and his team will play a key role in advancing Turner's business agenda for these important businesses and audiences."

Anderson joined Turner Broadcasting in 2005 and has overseen successful programming launches, including ANDRE BENJAMIN'S CLASS OF 3000; the Peabody Award-winning BOONDOCKS; AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE: THE MOVIE; and the nationally recognized kids initiative "Rescuing Recess." CN credits him for raising the profile of Cartoonnetwork.com as one of the top online destinations. Anderson leads a team of pr and publicity professionals based in Atlanta, New York and Los Angeles.

Previously, Anderson was svp of publicity and public relations at Carsey-Werner in Los Angeles, servicing the company's corporate, production, syndication and film divisions. Shows he worked on include THAT 70S SHOW, 3RD ROCK FROM THE SUN, ROSEANNE and THE COSBY SHOW.
