Amberwood Acquires Two Properties From Australia's Mini Studios

Amberwood Ent. has licensed exclusive rights to produce two of Mini Studios pre-school properties -- ROB THE ROBOT and DEBRA THE ZEBRA.

Spotted at MIP-TV 2005, Ottawa-based Amberwood immediately followed up with Melbourne-based Mini Studios (www.ministudios.com.au) to secure both series for production. Jonathan Wiseman, director of sales & marketing at Amberwood said, "The innovative concepts and fresh look of Mini Studio's properties will most certainly catch the eyes of many broadcasters worldwide. We are excited to have partnered with this talented company."

Created by Melbourne-based designer John Magart, ROB THE ROBOT is an animated series for pre-schoolers, based on the popular books. Rob guides children in thinking skills, problem solving and working together, as well as to explore the world and teach colors, numbers and shapes.

DEBRA THE ZEBRA, created by Steve and Lou Lou Kearney, explores difference in people through its main character, Debra, whose stripes go the wrong way. The message for children is that being different is not a disadvantage and that it's not what's on the outside but what's on the inside that counts. Debra was developed with the assistance of the Australian Childrens Television Foundation, the Australian Film Commission and Film Victoria.

"Armed with a one-minute demo developed with local visual effects house Digital Pictures Iloura and a number of characters designed by Moshi Studios tucked under our arms, we took off to MIP-TV at Cannes last April and came away with good interest in both Rob and Debra. Amberwood Ent. followed up straight away and we're very pleased to have them pick up both the shows as they are one of the world's leading producers of quality childrens television," said Steve Kearney.

Founded in 1997, Amberwood (www.amberwoodanimation.com) is a producer, financier and distributor of high quality animated and live-action television series, specials and features.
