Alfie Director Takes Eloise to Paris

ALFIE remake helmer Charles Shyer has been hire by HandMade Films to direct ELOISE IN PARIS, based on Kay Thompson-Hilary Knight famed children's book series, reports VARIETY. Shyer will also adapt the book with his 19-year-old daughter Hallie Meyers-Shyer and Larry Spencer. HandMade topper Patrick Meehan, Thomas D. Adelman and Ron Rotholz will produce with Shyer exec producing.

The series follows the adventures of a precocious girl, Eloise, who lives in New York City's Plaza Hotel. HandMade has announced that if the first film is a hit then they will follow it up with an adaptation of ELOISE GOES TO HOLLYWOOD.

The film will lens in London, Paris and New York, starting in February.

The book franchise has already been transformed into two ABC telepics and an animated series with a Broadway musical on the way.
